This year ‘Kanaka Shree’ annual literary award will be conferred on former professor of Hampi University Prof A V Navada.The award has been conferred on him in recognition to the extensive research he has done on Kanakadas.Amembala Vasudev Navada who originally hails from Dakshina Kannada district has made remarkable contribution to Kannada and Tulu language, literature and culture.
Kanaka Dasa was an eminent person who wrote several poems and Keertanas on social evils like the caste system and differences in society. Kanaka Dasa worked for the welfare of society irrespective of caste and religion in 15th century.
