HP Helps Organizations Reduce Business Risk with Transparent Records Management

HP today introduced a records management solution that enables customers to significantly reduce the business risks associated with the growing regulatory compliance and legal discovery demands.
HP TRIM 7 – an advanced records management solution built on 24 years of experience and best practices – enables organizations to transparently manage all of their Microsoft SharePoint Server records in a single environment, regardless of the source. This includes documents as well as information found in SharePoint Server blogs, wikis, discussions, forms, calendars and workflows.
Widespread adoption of SharePoint Server provides the opportunity to consolidate and simplify the management of content stored across multiple SharePoint instances. HP TRIM 7 enables the transparent capture, search and management of all types of physical and electronic business information, including Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 and the upcoming SharePoint Server 2010.
“Organizations today need solutions to manage the explosion of large volumes of information,” said Mark Gilbert, research vice president, Gartner. “New solutions are growing rapidly for authoring and managing enterprise content in various formats and sources, and this trend is truly changing the way organizations do business.”
“The explosion in Content 2.0 blogs, wikis and discussions creates new information management challenges for organizations trying to meet an escalating set of regulation,” said Kamal Dutta, Director HP Software & Solutions, HP India. ”HP TRIM allows customers to marry records management best practices and governance with dynamic collaboration platforms such as SharePoint.”
Transparent records management for Microsoft SharePoint products and technologies
To help SharePoint Server customers, HP TRIM 7 provides two new modules:
— HP TRIM Records Management improves business records management by providing transparent access to all the SharePoint Server content held in HP TRIM right from the SharePoint Server workspace. In addition, HP TRIM’s U.S. Department of Defense 5015.2 v3 certification means users are getting the highest levels of records management control for their enterprise content.
— HP TRIM Archiving helps customers reduce the risk of data loss when reclaiming storage and system resources from SharePoint Server. The module seamlessly archives specific list objects in SharePoint Server, or entire SharePoint Server sites, to HP TRIM. This happens behind the scenes, which allows users to take entire SharePoint Server sites offline while ensuring continued access to information.
”We’re pleased to see HP embracing and extending the SharePoint platform for their TRIM offering. For our joint customers, this provides a great opportunity to realize the value of their investment in both technology stacks,” said Tricia Bush, director, Microsoft SharePoint. “This shows the commitment of both companies to openness and interoperability in the content management arena.”
Faster deployment, increased productivity
With the new HP TRIM 7 web client interface and its highly configurable, off-the-shelf capabilities, customers can realize a faster deployment compared to other records management solutions – in weeks rather than months. In addition, the improved indexing and search capability allows customers to decrease the time spent searching for critical information as well as reduce response time for legal discovery, compliance requests and audits. Many HP TRIM customers have found improvement in staff efficiencies of up to 65 percent.(1)
The City of Ryde , a local government agency in New South Wales , Australia , reduced electronic information discovery request time by 80 percent, from 10 days to two days, by implementing HP TRIM.(2)
HP also offers services for Information Governance, Records Management Implementation and Microsoft SharePoint for faster time to value of HP TRIM.

eGestalt announced the launch of SecureGRC(TM)
eGestalt announced the availability of SecureGRC, a breakthrough solution that provides an end-to-end integration of Security monitoring with IT-Governance, Risk Management and Compliance (IT-GRC) management solutions using a cloud based delivery model. The combined solution provides an ability to address all the Enterprise needs around Security, Compliance and risk management and provides automation and integration of policy controls to manage security and IT-GRC related issues. A number of innovative cost and ownership models are available. There is a ‘Software-as-a-Service’ (SaaS) model coupled with an on-premises deployment or a completely on-demand cloud based service subscription offering. This will enable up to 10x total cost of ownership reduction especially for the cost-conscious Small and Medium business (SMB) segment.
Information security is assuming critical importance for hassle-free transactions in enterprises, financial institutions, Government, defense, Police and individuals. A global study by a leading security provider in 2009 indicated that 67 per cent of the Indian companies are very concerned about their business being a target for cyber crime. The study also reported that India and China have the largest amount of unreported data leaks, with 35 per cent and 32 per cent respectively. According to the Privacy Rights Clearinghouse, the records of more than 158 million U.S. residents have been exposed due to security breaches since January 2005. That’s more than half of the US population that have been affected. The United States Federal Trade Commission (FTC) estimates that 67% of victims report that one or more of their credit card accounts are misused and that 85% of all identity theft involved misuse of some type of existing financial account.
These data breaches have exposed a need for a unified approach to protecting sensitive data based on security policies and compliance guidelines.
There are point solutions available in the market today that enable security monitoring and IT-GRC separately. However, there has been a lot of demand for an integrated solution that enables end-to-end integration of security monitoring and IT-GRC solutions so that customers have a unified dashboard view of security and compliance management needs.
SecureGRCTM includes all security and IT-GRC functions required to be compliant with ready to use compliance frameworks, leading edge context based inference engines, most advanced alert processing and easy to use logging and monitoring solution. It is a complete end-to-end automation of all Enterprise security, compliance, audit, and risk management needs.
There is built in Framework support for RBI Compliance, NSE, BSE, MCDEX, PCI, ISO, COBiT, SOX, BASEL II, HIPAA, FISMA, and other country specific frameworks which are ready to use. SecureGRC has a not-so-far-seen value-add in terms of integrating, synergizing and transforming information from various sources into alert raising actionable solutions, helping in identifying the source of the attempted attack through pattern and correlation analysis, and plugging the loop hole before it takes major dimensions.
“We believe SecureGRC delivers what our customers have been asking for, an integrated solution for security and IT-GRC through an integrated dashboard”, said Chandra Sekhar Bilugu, Chairman and CEO of eGestalt. He added, “We are very excited to bring a pioneering solution to our worldwide customer base using our innovative patent pending cloud based SaaS offering.”
The Integrated SecureGRC solution is built using patent pending security and IT-GRC technology solution from eGestalt. It leverages and builds upon the standards compliance solution (from ControlCase Inc), effective data loss prevention and net forensics (from NetWitness Inc), and end-device security (from Safend Inc) solutions as well.

Shri Sachin Pilot, Minister of State for IT & Communications launched the CSI Knowledge Management Portal.
The Indian IT industry – both domestic and software exports – is carving its next phase of growth. With renewed value proposition to customers globally, Indian IT is estimated to clock double digit growth going forward. This optimism is further fuelled by increased Government spending in IT. This creates tremendous opportunities for both IT professionals and entrepreneurs in IT.
Besides driving economic growth, technology has become entrenched in our modern lifestyle enabling every aspect of commerce, government, education, communications and entertainment. Increased penetration of IT and Communication technologies is playing a key role in closing the urban-rural divide. Indian IT professionals are working in areas that have far reaching impact on the society.
“The IT sector is playing a predominant role in driving economic growth. It is an imperative to raise professional standards to meet this growth. The roadmap would be a key driver of individual excellence and talent development in Indian IT’s future growth charter and the government’s vision of better governance,” said S. Mahalingam, President, CSI.
CSI’s roadmap for the Professional Development Ecosystem for IT professionals include:
• Enlarge the pool of employable IT professionals through focused industry-driven training programmes
• Build international alliances to drive talent exchange programmes
• Use the power of IT to build local language interfaces and connect with and reach rural citizens
• Assist Government through IT System for better Governance
• Expand the domestic use of IT in business
• Facilitate and promote research and development to drive larger societal impact
The newly launched CSI Knowledge Management Portal would be the repository of intellectual capital for IT professionals. The portal allows professionals to discuss, debate and exchange information on technical and management issues enabling competency development. “I would urge professionals to leverage this opportunity to pursue individual growth. We would also like to attract students and work closely with them to enhance the suitability of aspiring IT professionals and help meet the talent needs of tomorrow,” added S Mahalingam.

Mercedes Benz launches the 2010 M-Class in two attractive options

The M-Class is among the safest cars in its class. The Euro NCAP test results are confirmation about the safety concept of the M-Class. Equipped as standard with seven airbags, belt tensioners, belt-force limiters and crash-responsive NECK-PRO head restraints, the SUV ensures its occupants an excellent standard of protection in the event of an accident. The M-Class is the first vehicle in its market segment anywhere in the world to be fitted as standard with the anticipatory occupant protection system PRE-SAFE®. The system makes use of the valuable seconds which elapse between a critical situation being identified and a possible impact ensuing, to instigate protective measures.
In terms of technology, the 2010 M-Class takes forward exciting features like permanent four-wheel drive and 4ETS traction systems to the next level by incorporating additional functions such as Downhill Speed Regulation, Acceleration skid control(ASR) and the off-road ABS system. The AIRMATIC air suspension significantly improves ride comfort, while the Adaptive Damping System (ADS), adjusts shock absorber response to suit driving situations. The double-wishbone front suspension makes a significant contribution to reduced road roar and tyre vibration, ensuring impressive driving dynamics with its raised aluminium wishbones. The rear axle has a four-link suspension system. Standard-fitted 19” light-alloy wheels emphasise the sporting pedigree of the new M-Class.
The design of the M-Class is much appreciated. Lighting units (front with bi-xenon headlamps), expressive front bumpers with prominent horizontal lines with fog lamps, and appealing 19 inch alloy wheels add to the engagement with the M-Class. The radiator grille sub-divided by three black louvres with chrome trim, the rear tail lights with LED technology and the rear tailgate with its discreet spoiler edge and a panoramic rear windscreen add to the allure of the vehicle. The M-Classadditionally includes features like PARKTRONIC, Electric Sliding sunroof, Front Memory seats, Media interface & Audio system with 6-CD changer, mini-spare wheel.
The Sports Edition: Includes Interior sports package (consisting of interior lighting package, sports instrument cluster, sports pedal system made of brushed stainless steel with rubber studs, Alcantra/ARTICO man made leather upholstery with contrasting topstitching, electrically adjustable front sports seats),
Exterior Sports Package (19 inch 5 twin spoke light alloy wheels, rectangular tailpipes with chrome trim, aluminum-look roof rails, chromed waistline trim strip, load sill guard on the rear bumper in chrome and simulated front underguard in stainless steel).
The Luxury Edition: In addition to the Exterior sports package; the luxury edition includes a wood/leather multifunction steering wheel, Thermotronic 3-Zone Automatic climate control, harmankardon LOGIC 7® Surround Sound® system (12 high performance speakers with 610 watts output), Anti-Theft Protection package & Leather seats.
“The M-Class has been a popular model series in India. The “Sports Edition” and the “Luxury edition” are very aggressively priced considering the loadings and features of this marque. HP Helps Businesses Respond to Changing Needs with Agile Accelerator Solution
HP today announced enhancements to HP Agile Accelerator to help customers increase the quality of their applications, enhance productivity, and respond to changing business scenarios quickly and cost-effectively.
Based on HP Quality Center software and HP Application Lifecycle Management consulting services, HP Agile Accelerator manages Agile development projects from proposal to production while helping IT departments better meet their application modernization initiatives.
HP Agile Accelerator helps software development teams improve the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of their business initiatives with predefined workflows, configurations and user reports. Recent enhancements include a built-in resource planning module, which allows development teams to better manage their Agile projects.
“Application development organizations are increasingly adopting Agile development practices to better manage risk and cut development costs,” said Margo Visitacion, analyst, Forrester. “It’s time for testing to become more Agile as well. Traditional end-of-the-life-cycle testing is dead.”(1)
Recognizing the need to align applications to business priorities, one of the top initiatives for IT decision makers is to modernize existing legacy applications. According to a recent Forrester report, almost 60 percent of respondents rated application modernization initiatives as “very important” or “important.”(2)
By using HP Agile Accelerator for application modernization initiatives, customers can:
— Improve business agility with faster response to changing requirements: Change impact analysis allows application teams to understand how a change to a given shared component may affect dependent applications.
— Reduce the risk of application performance degradation by finding defects earlier in the life cycle: With the ability to run security and performance tests in an Agile delivery model, enterprises can prevent the release of faulty software, saving time and money.
— Increase return on investment by delivering quality software early and frequently throughout the application life cycle: With prebuilt process workflows and user roles, application teams can reduce scoping errors and deliver software more frequently.
— Enhance productivity through greater collaboration: Standardized progress reporting improves visibility and communication across multiple teams.
“With varied development projects underway using different methodologies, we needed a solution to accommodate both Agile and non-Agile efforts, yet fit into our existing enterprise architecture,” said Timothy Perry, chief technology officer, Retirement and Pr otection, Genworth Financial. “By leveraging HP Agile Accelerator with HP Quality Center, we expect to increase efficiencies for each development team, and leverage our previous investments.”
