Avinash Deoskar qualifies for Team Puravankara Bangalore
In the second of three club qualifiers held in the city to decide the amateur representatives on Team Puravankara Bangalore, last year's host venue - Karnataka Golf Association - saw around 300 amateur golfers vie for the opportunity. However, fighting off stiff competition across two days, including that of the young guns Trishul Chinappa and Syed Saqib Ahmed, veteran Bangalore golfer, Avinash Deoskar was the final winner securing the second available amateur spot on the local team.

Teeing off on the 14th, the first day of the two-day long qualifiers, Avinash Deoskar (Handicap 9) displayed great finesse to end the day with a score of 41 calculated under the Stableford format. Though Viren Goyal, came close, he eventually ended with 39 points to finish runner-up. A delighted Mr. Deoskar now joins Eagleton's winner Saif Mekhri and shall wait a third qualifier from the Bangalore Golf Club to complete the trio that will represent the city on the Puravankara Bangalore team to compete at the Louis Philippe Cup to be held at the Jaypee Greens Golf Resort in Greater Noida, between the 11th and 16th of February 2013.

The amateur golfers will play alongside India's top pro golfers on the first two days of the Louis Philippe Cup for the Pro-Am Title, which will be determined by the combined 36 hole scores of the three pro and three amateur members.  However, the scores of the three member pro team alone will determine which four pro city teams progress to the semi-finals and then the finals of the Louis Philippe Cup - Golf's Premier League with a prize purse of Rs.1 crore.

With Greater Noida geared up to host the IPL version of golf, the second edition of the Louis Philippe Cup will boast of teams of all the top eighteen ranked golfers on the PGTI circuit, and have already confirmed participation of European Tour success, Jeev Milkha Singh (Noida), recent winner of McLeod Russel championship - SSP Chowrasia (Chennai) and two time Asian Tour winner Gaganjeet Bhullar (Chandigarh).
