German carmaker Volkswagen used software in the US to manipulate emission results in its diesel cars.According to reports, the German government has said that Volkswagen had manipulated emissions in Europe as well.
Source say the Government of India has asked the Automotive Research Association of India to check the emission data of Volkswagen cars in India too and submit a report by September 30.Because of the manipulation, it remained hidden that the emission levels of Volkswagen diesel cars were 40 times higher than the level of pollutants allowed in the US.Martin Winterkorn CEO of Volkswagen has resigned over the emissions cheating scandal.The German car-maker is facing up to USD 18 billion in fine in the US over these allegations of cheating pollution tests.
