Secular education in school curriculum is needed @DalaiLama

Speaking at the launch of Tawazun India, a Bangalore-based thinktank that focuses on “counter extremism”,  His Holiness Dalai Lama said that 'Secular ethics should be part of modern education'. Speaking on the subject of faith, His Holiness added how modern education system teaches external values and not internal values. For the subject of inner values people usually rely on practice and study of faith. He Stressed on the need to educate the young in secularism and teach them the “goodness of being peaceful.”

He spoke about the differences that exist amongst the human race everywhere including differences in faith, religion, age, qualification, social standing amongst others. He shared that the problem arises due to these too many differences and it is in the midst of these differences where people should stop and think. We are all the same. We are all born to a mother, nurtured by the mother’s milk. Even the ‘trouble makers’ like Stalin and Hitler have also come from their mothers and cherish a mother’s affection and have the ability to show affection to others.
